Kenrick-Glennon Seminary to Expand

There are reliable indications that the Archbishop will soon announce a major expansion of the facilities of the Archdiocesan Seminary.

The seminary's enrollment increased this year by 50%, with all signs pointing to another increase in enrollment next year. The seminary has simply run out of room.

Architectural plans have been submitted to His Grace for approval. A new residence hall is certainly needed, and perhaps a new library and other facilities are in the works.

This is great news, of course. But another reason to be grateful is the faithful, orthodox and pastoral care of the Archbishop that has led to the increase in the number of young men entering Kenrick-Glennon. As has been proven all over the world, when the Diocesan Ordinary teaches and defends the Catholic faith, Diocesan vocations increase. Dissent and ambiguity lead to dwindling numbers of priests. Where the fullness of faith is held, vocations to the priesthood and religious life flourish.

The seminary is out of room. As is the case with the ICRSS and the FSSP seminaries, St. Louis now has the best kind of vocation crisis.

Praise be to God! Would that many more bishops would follow this lead.

Thank you.

I am so glad to hear this. Having visited K-G Seminary, I can testify it is most worthy of an expansion.

Thank God for a Bishop who inspires Catholics throughout the USA by being a Faithful Bishop who does not seem to give a hoot about being politically correct. MAY GOD BLESS

Well, I guess I don't have to look it up! God bless you all and may we remember our seminarians in our prayers.

As a seminarian from Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, I greatly appreciate all your fine remarks. Let us pray that the Archbishop does not have too many sleepless nights in getting funds needed for this project.

This is truly good news. God's Will Be Done!

I would really love to see somebody take over the campus facility in Rome City, IN where Our Lady of America first appeared in 1956. It would make a wonderful seminary with such a delightful provenance. You can see it at www.oltiv.org. It is relatively similar to an old seminary I used to visit outside of Chicago.

WE NEED A THOUSAND MORE ARCHBISHOP BURKS, PARTICULARLY HERE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, IF YOU FOLKS IN ST. LOUIS DON'T MIND CAN WE BORROW THE GOOD BISHOP FOR A FEW MONTHS HERE IN LALA LAND (SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA) ALSO BOUT TIME THIS MAN BECAME A CARDINAL ALONG WITH BISHOP FINN.

I am sympathetic to Southern Cali, I am.

But these penances, however underserved, must be embraced as a blessing by the faithful laity.

Pray, pray, pray, pray for holiness and good bishops and holy priests. When things seem darkest, pray harder still.

Diocese can turn around on a time. We have to pray HARD for it though. Every detraction we offer (I used to do it all the time) worsens the problem.

Pray for miracles, they happen daily for those who ask.

After all, 15 years ago, did anyone in America think we would be building and expanding seminaries?

That vocations would be going up annually?

That new orders with young postulants would be dotting the landscape- AND GROWING?

Did anyone 12-15 years ago think Kenrick-Glennon would need expansion?

God will provide California, Babylonian captivity only lasts so long.
