If you have never read the "Town Talk" section of the Suburban Journals, congratulations on retaining 15 or so points of I.Q. But, as one example of what we are up against out there, here is one Town Talk entry that doesn't qualify as hate speech only because it is against the Catholic Church and Archbishop Burke. To be fair, I am sure the good people at the Journals would have been equally eager to print an ignorant screed against a Rabbi or Imam that called that person a Nazi:
Taking back the church
THE ST. LOUIS Review won't print this because they're neo-fascist. But I'll tell you what, if Catholics are going to survive in St. Louis, we've got to get together and start to fight for the rights of women. We need women ordained. We need priests. We need more power to the lay people. With the Nazi we got now in this diocese, we're not going to see change unless the people who are the church stand up and fight scream and yell to take our church back. Please print this in the Journal. Just like St. Stanislaus, you got to go to the public media to get the word out.
Friendly reminder: This is not an excerpt from the testimony adduced yesterday at the Catholic Center.

I think it's interesting to note that the Journal states that for Town Talk, "(g)ood taste and legal conisderations will be our guidelines for publication." I find it hard to believe that calling someone (besides Adolf Hitler and his cronies) a "Nazi" would not fall under the "good taste" guidelines!
That's really sad. And I seriously don't think this person is the majority.
I just read a letter with equally awful sentiments in the online Letters to the Editor (blogzone) of the Post-Dispatch. All I can do is shake my head in disgust and pray for these poor souls.

Notice how the call to arms desires the willing to "fight, scream, and yell?"
Yes, here we have our Christian orders. Go out and fight and scream and yell.
And these are the "pacifists" who are too good to pray, pay and obey.
Precious.
Sandy, thanks, I read that and it was repugnant. Oh, how easy it is to swipe the Nazi label on anybody you don't like! Everyone who calls Abp. Burke a Nazi should be required to write a thirty page paper on National Socialism in Germany from 1929-1945.
Thetimman, it upsets me greatly to read such awful things written about our beloved Archbishop. He is a good, humble and holy man and a wonderful, strong leader for St. Louis area Catholics. We are so blessed to have him here as our shepherd. How can folks get things so very wrong about him? Well, I think I know the answer to that, but still it is hard to take and it is sad to see such error regarding this gentle man. Let us continue to pray for him and support him as he leads us toward our Lord and salvation. Deo Gratias!
Take our Church back? Back to what? The Gospel is being preached, the poor are being fed, the schools are open and full. This vile crap is so annoying and headed down the same path that they think they are fighting. Power grabs always pit one against another. Classic socialist noise. Power, power, power, oppression oppression, oppression.
Please, I wish these people would say something new and something intelligent, because this "nazi" blather is old and patently un-Christian.
