A week or so ago I was tempted to write a fairly detailed year end wrap-up for 2007, covering in some depth the noteworthy events of the year for the St. Louis Catholic population-- e.g., the ICRSP ordinations, the Abp. Burke v. Crow v. Costas v. Ivory Theater v. Pretend Lady Priests, and, of course, Summorum Pontificum, to name a few. Well, my short form Sanjaya recap really said all that needed to be said, so I let it be.
Now however, being ever the optimist, I would like to present Saint Louis Catholic's official "Wishes for 2008":
1. For Archbishop Burke: a red hat, and a round-trip ticket to Rome to get it, with the return ticket marked for St. Louis (not Detroit or some other place).
2. For the Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest: at least one big money donor in each of their apostolate cities to donate at least a couple of million dollars in 2008. Perhaps the Sansone family would like to rekindle their love for the Latin Mass? And while I'm wishing, how about a Bishop to be consecrated from one of their ranks?
3. For the seminarians at Kenrick and Gricigliano: grateful remembrance in the prayers of the faithful whom they will serve.
4. For St. Cronan's: a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church for every parishioner, and a "pastoral team" that believes in the duty of obedience to their Ordinary, to the Holy Father, and to Church teaching.
5. For Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital: a new board of trustees, the courage to make a public apology for past bad actions, and tons of support for a very worthy cause.
6. For the Archdiocese of Saint Louis: a requirement that whenever Church consolidations or closures occur that the beauty and liturgical suitability of church premises be the most important factor considered. Fewer gymnasium or meal hall churches and more Catholic Churches would be a nice gift to the Archdiocese.
7. For J.C. Corcoran: the clue he so desperately needs.
8. For Pope Benedict XVI: obedience and love from his Cardinals, Bishops, clergy and faithful.
9. For St. Peter's Basilica: Solemn Pontifical High Mass at the main altar, with the Pope as celebrant, and full regalia-- the Papal Court, the Sedia Gestatoria, the Tiara and the whole works.
10. For readers of this blog: health, happiness, God's blessings, and perhaps more discriminating taste in web surfing.

I haven't listened to JC Corcoran since the late 1980s. What's his problem and why do you care? [Not to sound too snippy, but really, I don't know?]
Move up the dial to Jamie Allman at 97.1--same ownership.
Then you probably missed his ignorant spiel on Channel 2 making fun of Archbishop Burke and then demanding he "go".
I did some googling and found out about that spew session from AMDG. I don't watch local news either. I can understand your point. At least he conceded that he was speaking from the outside, though he's a "fallen-away" Catholic. I love it how he, true to the type, started off with his own credentials of Catholic education as if he knows more from 8-12 years of Cath ed. Sigh!
