Archdiocesan seminarian Jeff Geerling has taken and posted some beautiful pictures from Solemn High Mass celebrated in the St. Vincent de Paul Chapel at the old Kenrick Seminary, as part of a day-long workshop on the TLM.
The above photo is taken during the so-called "second confiteor", which takes place prior to Holy Communion-- an immemorial custom that has never been abrogated. It is a beautiful and fitting culmination of the preparation of the faithful for Holy Communion, when the Deacon and Subdeacon chant the Confiteor on behalf of the faithful and the Priest gives absolution at the last moment before Communion is distributed.
The celebrant is Father Karl W. Lenhardt of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest; the Deacon is Father Michael Houser, and the Subdeacon is Father Eric Kunz, both of the Archdiocese.
Jeff Geerling's website is here, and the following description also comes from his site:
"I have posted pictures from the Solemn High Mass held during a day-long workshop on the Extraordinary Form of the Holy Mass, which was celebrated in the "Old Kenrick" St. Vincent De Paul Chapel. Now the Cardinal Rigali Center (housing the Archdiocesan offices), the chapel used to serve the students and faculty of the Kenrick School of Theology, the Archdiocese's major seminary. The chapel is built using choir stalls, and is ornately decorated with wood carvings and beautiful stained glass. Click here to see all the pictures."

Lots of familliar faces! Plus it was good that Father Lenhardt was able to get a 'last hurrah' with the Kenrick guys.

I really like the first picture. The Second Confiteor is great. You know, the placement right before Holy Communion really seems right.
We, St. Louis, will really miss Father Lenhardt. I believe the Lord has great things for him.
I will keep him close to my heart and pray for him every day.
I have heard nothing but great things about Father Wiener!
Seminarians, you will have a close friend and holy priest in Father Wiener.
The Rome of the West will shine brighter than it has since the glory days of Kenrick/Glennon.
May the Lord richly bless these holy faithful priests who work in a field of rotten grapes!
The timman- you will have a safe place in heaven for giving us the truth of Holy Mother Church.
Keep up the good work.
Pay no attention to the liberals (unfaithful catholics) behind the curtin. :)
anon, thanks for the kind words, and I agree with you on Father and Father. But I would be remiss if I didn't remark that there are many holy priests in this Archdiocese, and more coming. Though we are still emerging from the wasteland, so to speak, we should be ready to support all of the faithful priests here who seek to guard and guide in a rotten world. The fruits of this Pontificate will ripen in the coming years.
Pray for our priests, and for our new Archbishop!
I'm sorry-I did not mean preists when I said rotton grapes. I ment the sin of disobiedence.I too believe there are many holy preists in the Archdiocese. We have a great priest here in the county. Mary Mother of Jesus, Mother of Priests, keep them safe.
