Gaudete Sunday

Gaudete in Domino semper: iterum dico, gaudete.  Modestia vestra nota sit omnibus hominibus: Dominus enim propre est.  Nihil solliciti sitis: sed in omni oratione petitiones vestrae innotescant apud Deum.

Benedixisti, Domine, terram tuam: avertisti captivitatem Iacob.

Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto; sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

"Merry Christmas you wonderful old building and loan!" (remember what movie and what scene that is from?)

Does "Guadete" mean "Joy"?

I though "Gaudium" meant "Joy."

Gaudete means "rejoice" and the third Sunday of Advent derives its name from the first word of the Introit.
