Peter, Lead Us!

I haven't posted on this before, but the situation in Linz, Austria is intolerable, and a horrible precedent.

For those who don't know, the Holy Father selected a priest who, by all accounts, is an orthodox and holy priest, for the position of Auxiliary Bishop of Linz.  All of the usual suspects in the progressive world, emboldened by their popular attacks on Pope Benedict XVI after the lifting of the SSPX excommunications, raised a howl, and the kind of revolt that was only hinted at when Bishop Braxton was named to Belleville began in earnest.  Cardinal Shoenborn of Vienna was instrumental in calling a consultative meeting of Bishops to "discuss" the appointment.

This pressure to demonize, stir up contempt for, and ultimately reject, an appointment of the Pope is a direct challenge to Papal authority.

This is untenable.  Giving in to this kind of pressure sets a bad, bad precedent.  We need to fight for Peter, rally to Peter, and pray for Peter.

Holy Father, lead us, and we will follow!

Friends, we are in dangerous times, and faithful Catholics must be more faithful, more vocal, and more willing to suffer.  For if we stand with Peter, suffer we will.

How long will the Church give in to the forces that wish her annihilation?  No appeasement is ever enough for them.  When will we stand?  When will this diabolical disorientation end?
