Archbishop Burke to Celebrate Mass in the Extraordinary Form in St. Louis on September 19

On September 19 the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus will celebrate 90 years of service to the Archdiocese of St. Louis. It was on September 19, 1919 that Blessed Maria Teresa of St. Joseph (the Order's foundress) met with Cardinal Glennon and was accepted into the Archdiocese.

They will celebrate this occasion with a Solemn High Votive Mass of St. Joseph in the Extraordinary Form in their chapel at 1:00 on September 19, 2009.

Sources confirm that His Grace, the Most Reverend Raymond Leo Burke, Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, will pontificate.

Are the public welcome?

Does anyone know if the public may attend this mass? It would be remarkable to attend this mass considering these circumstances.

As far as I know, the public are welcome. Because the chapel is somewhat limited in size, it would not surprise me if some sort of system were to be put in place to regulate the numbers as the Sisters get a handle on the interest level. I know I will be there if I can...
