Happy Anniversary

To the Rector of St. Francis de Sales Oratory, Canon Michael K. Wiener, pictured above in a pontifical high Mass with then-Cardinal Ratzinger, and also Canon Karl W. Lenhardt, former Rector of the Oratory (Canon Wiener is at right).

Ten years ago today, he was ordained at the hands of the great Archbishop Burke (then- Bishop of La Crosse).

Ad multos annos! We are grateful for your priestly service.

Thank you very much. I am very grateful and very humbled by the many good wishes I have received on this day. Deeply impressed by the profound piety of the American Catholics I thank God for the opportunity to serve the Institute in this great country. Please pray for the Institute, our Prior General and founder and all superiors as well as for all priests who are honored and happy to be able to serve you here at the magnificent Oratory in St. Louis. On July 14 I will celebrate a Solemn High Mass in thanksgiving for the gift of being a priest of the Institute.

The Institute of Christ the King, St. Peter Fraternity, and an increasing number of other traditional priestly societies are producing a lot of mighty fine churchmen. Think of it, someday soon some of these good priests will be good bishops; and for that let us all now deeply pray.

We in Oakland miss you, Canon Wiener! Canon Moreau sent our best wished from the pulpit last Sunday. The faithful are grateful to God for your priesthood on this anniversary, and especially for the Institute. May God bless the Institute and especially Archbishop Burke who ordained you ten years ago, and will ordain three more priests for the Institute this week.
