In what can only be described as a devastating development for the National League as it seeks to break a long losing streak in the midsummer classic, and a disappointment for baseball fans, Albert Pujols has announced he will miss tonight's All-Star Game.When quizzed about the reason, Pujols had this to say, "Man, you know I love to compete, but I just couldn't stay away from Canon Wiener's Anniversary Mass and Reception tonight at 6:30pm at the Oratory. Who knows, maybe if there is time afterwards I can get the stadium to pinch hit and win the game."

I live in Southern California, and I've suddenly become a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
After that 1st inning error, perhaps he should have attended the celebration! After all, he plays for Jesus.

Thank you all very much for your kindness and support toward the Institute and its members here at the Oratory. The celebrations yesterday were very touching and made again apparent the generosity of many faithful in St. Louis and far beyond toward the Catholic priesthood and the liturgy. It was moving for me to witness - again - how the liturgy celebrated with solemnity and charity (Veritatem facientes in Caritate!) brings about so many beautiful spiritual fruits.
