Ah, yes, the infamous 'Clown Mass'. I am generally a fan of Masses being evangelistic, as well as reverent. But even a reverent clown would scare the crap out of me.

Hmmmm. . . Reverent Clown might be a good identity to to choose. . .

DANTE'S
CLUB

Vile, vile,
Down the aisle
Narcissistic freaks they file

Not the fools
Who feign their gaiety...
But tolerant white sepulchred laity.

That last picture was from some off-Broadway show, right?

Hey Timman,

Check out the pictures at the bottom of this page...some of them are pretty crazy!

This is just totally sad - that a so-called Catholic blog would basically line up the 'good cop/bad cop' by pulling together the best of his 'side,' while finding the worst of the other.

There is nothing humorous here nor instructional. If you're goal is to be the terribly divisive Rush Limbaugh or Al Frankin of Catholics, then congratulations.

If your goal is to be Christian, you have failed miserably.

In a world that faces dire hunger, in a culture that adores materialism and instant gratification, in a world torn assunder by divisions between religious cultures, in a society that condones abortion, capital punishment, embryonic stem cells destruction, euthenasia ... you are finding time to ridicule the way some Catholics are praying?

Seriously, dude, you need to spend a year or two in Haiti or the streets of Calcutta to realize what really is worth fighting for ... and here's a hint: it ain't variances in liturgical worship!

That clown picture is just angering.

Oh Anonymous,

You take things too seriously -lighten up! I'm sorry to say that even a reverently received host in the hand cannot compare with the posture of humbleness before Christ in kneeling with one's tongue out, wearing a mantilla.

Anon at 21:32 mentioned Calcutta. Timman included a photo with a beautiful REVERENT woman from Calcutta. SHE understood the "variances in liturgical worship" - notice she's receiving our Lord on her tongue.

Timman merely posted photos. There was no ridiculing. THE PHOTOS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES! And even you, Anon, apparently see the lunacy that is occuring.

"...wearing a mantilla." Ah, yes, it all goes back to fashion. God loves your fashion choices. Congrats on that.

I don't think that they intended the clown to be reverent.
