You Think?

The official that initiated the Vatican's investigation of women religious in the United States admitted this week that the enquiry was fueled by concerns that American nuns had become overly secularized and influenced by feminism.

With all due respect, where the hell has he(the "official" at the Vatican) been the past 45 years?

It is reported that our unbelievably polarized U.S. episcopate is dragging its heels over making donations to help meet the cost of this Apostolic Visitation of U.S. Sisters. Personally, I believe that nothing has been as harmful to the Church's pursuit of her mission in America as has the destruction of the American convents, and so the success of this Visitation has very much to do with rebuilding the institution of the Church in the United States. Therefore, I
beg all readers of St. Louis Catholic to prayerfully consider the following words from Cardinal Rode's recent letter to the American bishops, and then do whatever you are able to do to help this worthy cause.

The (Cardinals's)letter said, “May I suggest that the donations you wish to make (to help cover expenses for the Visitation) be sent to the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life [CICLSAL], 00120 Vatican City State, Europe. Please specify that it is to be used for the ‘Apostolic Visitation of Institutes of Women Religious in the United States.’ ”

I suspect a lot of us will be proud to have our names added to the list of benefactors for this Vatican initiative.
