The Bill of Goods, Courtesy of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate

Are you tired of the Catholic Faith? Do you feel there are just too many demands?

Does the hierarchical structure of God's creation get you down?

Would you rather worship pond scum, trees and various flora and fauna while pretending the universe created itself?

Does the prospect of hanging out with New-Age Hippies in a non-judgemental, birkenstock-wearing environment appeal to you?

Do you like to read newsletters that use totally catchy phrases like "emergence", "new universe", "multiform energetic unfolding" and "ecozoic era"?

Would you like to form your very own "spirit stick"?

Well, well, have I got the place for you-- La Vista Ecological Learning Center, run by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. No need to worry about cumbersome Catholic teaching getting in the way of your Earth worship here. And no preachy sermons about how Jesus Christ came to save men from their sins, and founded a Church to spread the good news.

Saint Eugene de Mazenod would be spinning in his grave, were he not already experiencing the actual Beatific Vision. And yet the spiritual wasteland into which this order would lead people does not awake its dwindling numbers to repent of this nonsense, and follow the Gospel. Funny, yet too sad to be funny.

O, my! All that talk of creation and no mention of God. It didn't even sound like hard, cold science.

Indeed, a good many saints who founded orders are weeping in heaven.

There is one quite good OMI priest at OLOS. He is a good confessor and homilist and very pro-life. Pretty orthodox. I've chatted with him after weekday mass a few times. Then there's another who's openly subversive and says we have to see things through Jesus' eyes, not the Church's eyes. Sigh. I wish I knew either man's name.

It sounds like the OMIs are the male auxiliary branch of the LCWR.

Anon,

Interestingly enough the SSNDs seem to be their partners in crime often enough.

Peggy,

Cdl. George is an Oblate, and he's no slouch. I often wonder just how much support he gets from his brethren.
