Pope Prescient XII

"I am worried by the Blessed Virgin's messages to little Lucia of Fatima. This persistence of Mary about the dangers which menace the Church is a divine warning against the suicide of altering the faith, in her liturgy, her theology and her soul... I hear all around me innovators who wish to dismantle the Sacred Chapel, destroy the universal flame of the Church, reject her ornaments and make her feel remorse for her historical past.

"A day will come when the civilized world will deny its God, when the Church will doubt as Peter doubted. She will be tempted to believe that man has become God. In our churches, Christians will search in vain for the red lamp where God awaits them. Like Mary Magdalene, weeping before the empty tomb, they will ask, 'Where have they taken Him?'"

--Eugene Cardinal Pacelli, future Pope Pius XII, 1931

Prescience is one thing. Eloquence another. He had both.

And yet he never released the Third Secret. Why?

X, Though I wish he had, in his defense Our Lady said it was to be released before 1960 at the latest. His pontificate ended before then, so the onus falls on John XXIII. In other words, though it might be correct to say he should have released it, it would not be correct to say that he had to have released it.

If we ever learn the exact contents, it will likely shed light on this.

Pray that Pope Benedict will live long enough to set enough people and things in the right places so that when times get REALLY rough for us...there will be *something* to help the faithful.

The Saintly Pope Pius XII said...

"Christians will search in vain for the RED lamp..."

Vestments of red
Altar cloth too
Martyrs who bled
Did this for you

Gold Tabernacles
Veiled in red's hue
Martyrs in shackles
Hung for this view

Red mums full bloomed
In water and brass
Martyrs consumed
Burned for this Mass

Red rays of sun
Rose-streak the nave
Their suf'ring done
Now red we must crave!

Never saw this before! Thanks so much, Timman. Needs to be widely circulated. Be nice if NCR were to reprint it--both NCRs, the good one and the bad one.
