Timman, good luck to you and your lovely wife, Sharon. Godspeed. And welcome in advance to the newest Timman progeny, Gustav. . . or Columba, whichever.
My sister told me that you feel like you are obligated to a speedy response to my post of a few weeks back about the possibility that we may consider the dogmatic authority of Vatican II a little differently than other ecumenical councils because of the apparent disclaimers issued by the promulgating pope.
No hurry. Really. Bide your time. Wait until the subject arises spontaneously. I am gratified that you have given diligent attention and thought to the matter. I don't even know that I am right. I tend to think I am but I welcome a fellow Catholic who is liberal enough to keep an open mind and who I am sure will eventually share his thoughts on the matter.
I am sure you noticed my use of the word "liberal". I could have even said "progressive". This is new for me so I'll toss it out. I think that what should come out of the talks between the SSPX and Rome is a much needed clarification regarding infallibility, both with regards to ecumenical councils and ex cathedra statements. I feel like a progressive in that I am only moving toward an undefined, but seemingly to me, legitimate development of Catholic doctrine. Am I a "progressive" Traditionalist? Hehe.
That's great about another baby for the kingdom of God. May God bless you and your family...
Also, please don't think I am wanting you to publish this post. I couldn't figure out how to send you an e-mail. If you wanted I wouldn't care, but I don't expect that this would be of much public interest. I've been keeping tabs on your blog since my first posts. Engage any reflections that you may have due to my participation completely at your leisure. Heh. Its been 45 long years...I think we can delay the revolu...er...reform an extra week or two if necessary!
You know--that baby is going to feel MIGHTY left out when he sees all the photos I took without him in it. This might call for a baby photo session in St. Louis... :-)

Thanks, all. Still awaiting. Fr., I saw you in the procession. You wore black and white.

Much better use of your time (though I do enjoy your blog, really...). Praying for you all.
