This Friday: The Feast of the Sacred Heart and a Special Mass at the Oratory

The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest has a particular devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is partly from its Salesian charism. When our Lord appeared to manifest His desire of promoting devotion to His pierced Heart, it was to a Sister of the Visitation order, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. The lay society of the Institute, the Society of the Sacred Heart, invokes its patronage. The tender love and mercy flowing from His Sacred Heart is the perfect encapsulation of the teachings of St. Francis de Sales.

This Friday, June 11, at 6:30 pm, in honor of this great feast of the Sacred Heart, St. Francis de Sales Oratory will be the site of a very special Mass. The St. Francis de Sales Oratory choir will sing a Mass composed by Mr. Kevin Allen, the noted American composer of sacred music.

His work written in 1991 is based on the well known Chant Mass setting “Orbis Factor.” The Mass is scored for Ladies choir, String Orchestra and Gentleman’s Chant Schola.

Mr. Allen will be in attendance. All are warmly invited and welcome to attend.

Confessions 30 minutes before Holy Mass.

Cor Iesu Sacratissimum, miserere nobis!

I have heard the music and it is heavenly. ---If you attend you will not be disappointed. This will surely raise your heart, mind, and soul to God.
The men's schola will be in the choir loft and the women's schola and symphony instruments will be in the South transept answering the chant. It will be honest to goodness "stereo" effect. Best seats for sound will be front and middle of the cathedral.

We'll be passing through St. Louis that day, but will be stopping at the church to pay a visit to the Blessed Sacrament between 12:30 and 1pm. I'm very sorry we're going to miss it!!!
