An actual item on Craigslist:

---FRE[E]MASON ROSARY--- - $125

WOOD AND METAL; GREAT SHAPE; FROM CIRCA 1900; HAS FRE[E]MASON SYMBOL ON ROSARY

(Thanks to CP for the heads-up)

In case you're interested in the subject of Freemasonry, here is Pope Leo XIII's encyclical on the subject, Humanum Genus.

If I had to put money on this, I'd bet that the "fremason" symbol is actually a Knights of Columbus symbol or the like, and that the person selling it is someone who has unforutnately either lost the faith and/or never been exposed to the true faith. I'm tempted to purchase the rosary to find out.

Looking at the picture of the rosary I can’t see any Masonic symbol, so I'm presuming that the 'freemason symbol' in question is none other than the skull and crossbones found on the foot of the Crucifix; which isn't actually a Masonic symbol in this case. Obviously the seller isn't Catholic and doesn't know that the skull and crossbones on the Crucifix represent Christ's victory over death, and also refers to the tradition that Adam is buried under Mount Calvary ("here was a tradition current among the Jews that the skull of Adam, after having been confided by Noah to his son Shem, and by the latter to Melchisedech, was finally deposited at the place called, for that reason, Golgotha. The Talmudists and the Fathers of the Church were aware of this tradition, and it survives in the skulls and bones placed at the foot of the crucifix.” Catholic Encyclopaedia)
