Marcus Berquist, Requiescat in Pace

Many readers, especially homeschoolers, will know Marcus Berquist, co-founder of Thomas Aquinas College and husband of classical education-based homeschooling pioneer Laura Berquist.  Dr. Berquist passed away on November 2, 2010, the Commemoration of All Souls.  His work at Thomas Aquinas stands as a testimony to the vitality of authentic Catholic post-secondary education and to merits of classical education.  He is survived by his wife, six children, and four grandchildren.

From an obituary in California Daily Catholic:

Funeral arrangements are as follows:

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening, November 5, 2010, in the college’s chapel of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity.

A funeral Mass in the extraordinary form will be celebrated on Saturday morning, November 6, 2010 at 9 a.m., also in the college chapel.

Interment will be immediately after at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.

The Berquist family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Thomas Aquinas College at 10,000 Ojai Road, Santa Paula, CA, 93060.
