Meatless Friday: Stossel Clobbers O'Reilly on the Subject of Ron Paul

Rush Limbaugh of all people often refers to Bill O'Reilly as "Ted Baxter", the pompous and empty-headed anchorman on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.  I don't think he's that smart, if this video is any indication.  O'Reilly stands for the neo-conservative party line towards Paul, made necessary by the fact that they can't come close to answering him or engaging in a battle of ideas or intellect-- Ron Paul is insane and can't win, so let's make fun of him.

There is no good answer to Paul's proposition that we have no business being in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Libya. Because either it is unjustified in and of itself (which I believe), or else (even if you could make the case for it in terms of national security) we simply cannot afford to do so.  Stated simply, the country is bankrupt, and domestic and foreign spending needs to be slashed.

O'Reilly is so ignorant here that all he can manage to do is the bemused mocking thing.

RON PAUL for PRESIDENT! I am a huge supporter of Ron Paul. He is both liberal and conservative and a real intelligent moderate that the American people need! He is a champion of common sense. -from a 23 year old american student

Although I like Ron Paul and agree in much of what he says, he willnot win because he is so libertarian that he has stated that all drugs should be legal, even Heroin. That won't go over with the American people, because they will envision every teenager using hard drugs like alcohol. He does have a point that if drugs are legal the dealers are out of business.

And, although this shouldn't matter, Ron is small and has a squeaky voice and historically the taller of the two candidates always won, except for Gore and Bush. People are superficial.

...let me get this straght:

Rush 'dittohead' Limbaugh calls Bill O'Reilly, 'Ted Baxter'.

Isn't that kinda' like the pot calling the kettle black?

Oops... I think I just stumbled over the stepped over the TParty PC color line.

Stossel should be commended for his patience with O'R. Timman, you are correct in that O'R was really floundering. He reminded me of the many times that politicians who can not win against the truth or principles resort to criticizing the intelligence of their opponent. Usually it is the Democrats pulling that tactic. It is ironic that we see O'R do it.
Ron Paul made a lot of sense in that debate.

Let us not forget that Ron Paul voted FOR the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell!

Democrats always resort to name-calling and hyperbole....right.

Two years into O'B's presidency and the TP/right-winger "birthers" are STILL arguing O'B's legitimacy,

"God&Country&Timeless Principles" Republicans, calling anyone who disagrees with them 'Communists', (right, Todd Akin?)

Right-to-Lifers calling those who propose ANY safe and legal birth-control measure, "Baby-Killers".

Anyone who endorses a health-care system not held hostage by go for-broke-Capitalism, one that even POOR people can afford to access - well THOSE people are SOCIALISTS trying to bankrupt down America.

yeah, those democrats are REAL XXXXXXX, aren't they?
