Unabashedly Catholic News and Views
When I was working at the University of Iowa in the mid-1970s, the campus cinema ran “Deep Throat” for weeks on end. This was an agonizing thing to me as a woman, but also as a woman I was afraid to publicly object because of the extremely unpleasant attention I knew that my objection would focus upon me. (I believe I was far from alone -- and remain far from alone -- in being silenced by this type of fear.) It is a small step from society pretending that sexual deviance is harmless, to our children feeling that sexual deviance is expected. We are there now. We have let it happen.
Btw, your point about the shattering irony of the "What about their socialization?" refrain is, obviously, well-taken :-)
