Judge Moore in Alabama: One Man Stands for the Natural Law
The default position is that a person doesn't deserve special credit for merely doing his job. As Our Lord said when comparing us to faithful servants of a great master: "So you also, when you shall have done all these things that are commanded you, say: We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which we ought to do."
Yet in these evil days there are times to hand out credit for standing against the zeitgeist. Hence Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, who has ordered his judges to refuse to issue licenses for pretend sodomite "marriages". His position begins with the statement that the Obergefell decision was limited in scope, and not intended to apply to every State's ban on institutionalized, serial sodomy. He notes that the Eighth Circuit (right here in ol' St. Louis) has held that Obergefell only applies to the four states involved.
Of course, this is a tactical argument, and will ultimately be slapped down by the regime's enforcers of depravity in our laws. Sometimes, when faced with bad precedent, I'll prep an argument with my colleagues where we joke, "But your honor, these are completely different Respondents!"
But no matter. He stands. He witnesses for Christ, implicitly at least, by standing for the truth of the Natural Law. Bravo, Judge Moore. At least you've stuck your thumb in Leviathan's eye.
