My Advice, for What It Is Worth

I don't know when, or even if ever, this advice will be relevant. I couldn't possibly pick the correct day to post this-- by which I mean the day the plug is pulled on the Internet. Or, if you will, the day that no watchman may sound the alarm for whatever outrage is perpetrated on us. There will at that time be no medium to console, rally, warn, urge, etc. The Mass is outlawed. The election is stolen. The faithful are to be reprogrammed or killed. Whatever it may be.

Hence, this post, obviously a bit dramatic. I don't want to lose the chance to make my stand by being too late.

Jesus Christ is the one and only Savior of the World. His Church, the Catholic Church, is the only ordinary means of salvation. We must be faithful to Him no matter what-- even if we are starved to death, arrested, tortured, killed, our children taken from us, or our reputations ruined. If we pray for grace, grace will be given to us to endure it all. Have supreme confidence in Him and He will sustain you. Let no bad news, no threat, no suffering, separate you from Him. A glorious crown awaits those who persevere.

Stay close to His Mother, and pray the Rosary. Go to confession more often than you think you need to. Go to Mass as often as possible. Make use of the sacraments while we have them, and avoid mortal sin at all costs.

That's my advice. I hope to take my own advice.

Well, that's all. Sorry for the drama. Maybe tomorrow I'll post some Bob Dylan lyrics.

Rank Speculation?

Oh boy, if you think I've gone out on limbs in the past, try this one on:

1.  Hillary is pre-ordained to be president by those who can order such things.

2. Typically the first choice of the government party wins, but if some unforeseen event occurs the other government party candidate wins-- thus providing the comforting illusion of choice to the plebs with little inconvenience to those in charge.

3.  Trump's unexpected and incredible levels of support make his candidacy-- at which those in charge had at first scoffed-- a dangerous threat to settled expectations.

4.  Trump's poll numbers leading to, and immediately after, the GOP convention, along with the fervor of his supporters, many of whom were being drawn from groups historically hostile or at best apathetic to the GOP, created a panic.

5.  In order to shape opinion and discourage possible Trump voters, poll numbers began to shift in favor of Clinton and the media began a relentless and unprecedented (even for them) hatchet job on Trump, eschewing all pretense of fairness and seeking to destroy his candidacy.

6.  At about this time, the media reported that (wink, wink) the Russians (boo!) had hacked Democratic and Hillary-specific emails.  The line of reporting is that foreign powers were trying to manipulate American elections. There is no one to cast doubt on this version of events, as several Democratic staffers who might know otherwise mysteriously die, adding to the legendary, ontological bad luck of Clinton opponents, historically speaking.

7.  After some initial success with this tactic, Trump continues to rise in the polls, and even with the flawed sampling patterns in play has begun to "take the lead" again.

8.  This, combined with the fact that Clinton sure looks seriously ill (or possessed? who knows), has caused another wave of panic to those who order things.

9. Therefore, now, reverting to script about the evil Russians (boo!) we are now told that the Russians (boo!) have possibly hacked into our voting systems!! Run!  Notice I say "Russians" and not "Hillary's team of election machine programmers". Sounds better.

So, the way I speculate, all bases are covered: if Hillary's pre-programmed algorithm is worth enough percentage points of votes to carry the day, the press will point to her good polling, Trump's "dangerousness" and the inevitability of it all to rank it as no surprise.  That Russian hacking threat never materialized, you see.

On the other hand, if Trump's landslide overcomes the pre-programmed algorithm for Hillary, and he actually wins the thing, then look for our current junta leader to declare the election results hacked, tainted and unreliable, necessitating a new vote sometime later next year when they can "fix" the problems.  In the meantime, the great leader will just stay in power to maintain control and safety.  Look for lots of faked acts of violence by angry Trumpers to justify just about anything. The way I see it, wanna-be third-termer Chavez isn't out of power yet.

There.  Rank speculation.

Somebody Tell Me Why He Is Wrong

Louie Verrecchio is, shall we say, confrontational. And I many times do not like the tone of his work-- though he makes good points very often, there is a lack of something like necessary decorum in dealing with certain persons and matters.

That, friends, is my disclaimer of why I'm linking to Mr. Verrecchio's post here.  I'm sure some of my readers will laugh at my disapproval of another's lack of decorum. Pot, kettle.  And I'm sure Louie would be amused at my reservations. But no matter-- when you're right, you're right.

He raises a very good question.  And it is worth considering well:

Benedict's bombshell goes all but unnoticed

If it happens that the Roman Pontiff resigns his office, it is required for validity that the resignation is made freely and properly manifested but not that it is accepted by anyone. (1983 Code of Canon Law, Canon 332 §2)

Note well that two things are “required” in order for a papal resignation to be valid; it must be both “made freely” and  “properly manifested.”

Let’s talk about the latter first.

How might a papal resignation be properly manifested?

First and foremost, it is manifested by way of declaration or published statement; i.e., some sort of pronouncement on the part of the pope-resignee that makes his intent known to the members of the Church.

That, however, is not all, and for a very good reason that we will consider momentarily.

A papal resignation is also properly manifested by way of outward signs that clearly indicate that the man in question is no longer the Roman Pontiff.

Common sense and the witness of history alone indicate that the antithesis of a papal resignation “properly manifested” on the part of a former pope includes such things as:

– Continuing to wear papal vestments

– Retaining one’s papal name as opposed to resuming the use of one’s former name

– Continuing to refer to oneself as “Pope” (albeit “Emeritus”) rather than one’s previous rank

– Allowing oneself to be addressed publicly as “Your Holiness” (and by his would-be successor, no less)

– Continuing to live within the enclosure of the Vatican

In the case of Benedict XVI, something is being manifested, and deliberately so!

In other words, it is the height of naivete to presume that such actions as those listed above are just innocent mistakes in judgment.

This brings me to the reason why the outward signs that accompany a declaration of intent to resign the Petrine ministry are so very important.

Commenting on the former requirement set forth in Canon 332 §2 (that the resignation be “made freely”), Cardinal Walter Brandmüller recently said:

"The simple declaration of free resignation on the part of the person in question [the pope] is not enough, because depending on the circumstances that statement could easily be forced, and the resignation therefore invalid."

This, my friends, is really just common sense. Think about it:

If you answered your telephone while a burglar was holding a gun to your head, you may very well insist to the caller that all is well. The caller in his turn would then go about believing and behaving as if all truly is well, and no one may be the wiser.

That is, unless you were clever enough to hint that all is not as it appears to be in the hopes that your caller might have ears to hear.

For instance, you might raise a red flag by making statements that your caller would readily recognize as so entirely absurd and irrational that he’d be hard pressed not  to inquire further. We’ll come back to this thought in a moment.

One wonders, is Cardinal Brandmüller suggesting that he harbors reservations about the freedom of Benedict’s resignation? Does he mean to imply that others in the Sacred College hold similar doubts?

In any case, I suspect that no small number of prelates sincerely believe that Benedict was forced to resign, and yet are unwilling to go public with their concerns.

Good Question: First, Be Sure of Answer; Second, Act

Lifesite News has published an article with the provocative headline: "Did a Catholic healthcare org just agree to hand out contraception under pressure from the ACLU?". Though there is plenty of smoke in the article, there is no confirmed fire to what would be a major local Catholic news story with national repercussions.

SSM Health has taken over a number of Walgreen's locations and converted them to clinics. Statements by SSM Health spokesmen sure do indicate that contraceptives would still be offered, as they were at Walgreen's:

The joint statement dated August 25 promised “SSM Health will continue to offer the same services that are currently available at Walgreens Healthcare Clinics today.” As for Hartwig-Mekstan, she is quoted in an August 18 story saying, Walgreens clinics “do provide a range of contraceptive services.”

Merrill also was paraphrased in one story as confirming that SSM-run Walgreens clinics will dispense one-month supplies of birth control pills. When questioned further by LifeSiteNews, however, Merrill referred to the joint statement that read, in part, “SSM Health will continue to offer the same services that are currently available at Walgreens Healthcare Clinics today stated.”

As bad as that sounds-- and it sounds bad-- there is no indication in the article that such a practice has begun, and no word on any altering of prior practice based on Catholic teaching.  As such, there is enough for the Archdiocese to investigate. And if contraception is given by an ostensibly Catholic institution, the Archbishop should act decisively. Says the Lifesite article:

The Lepanto Institute’s Hichborn isn’t any more certain than the ACLU about SSM’s intentions. But it if were to supply birth control pills, he said, “the archbishop of St. Louis, Robert Carlson, should order them to cease calling themselves a Catholic organization.”

Actually, no, the proper course is admonition and excommunication.  Hold your breath for that, of course.

A Vote for Hillary is a Vote for Nuclear War

There. Did that get your attention?

From Lew Rockwell's Paul Craig Roberts:

Trump v. Hillary: A Summation (SLC note: I'm excerpting the Hillary portion)

The US presidential election this November will tell whether a majority of the US population is irredeemably stupid. If voters elect Hillary, we will know that Americans are stupid beyond redemption.

We don’t know much about Trump, and anti-Trump propaganda rules in the place of facts.

But we know many facts about Hillary. We know about her violation of classification laws and the refusal of the Democratic administration to do anything about it. The Democrats prefer to control the White House than to enforce the law, another nail in the coffin in which the rule of law in the US lies.

We know from their words and deeds and material success that the Clintons are agents for Wall Street, the Big Banks, the military/security complex, Israel, agribusiness, and the extractive industries. Their large personal fortune, approximately $120 million, and the $1,600 million in their foundation, much of which came from abroad in exchange for political favors, attests to the unchallengeable fact that the Clintons are agents for the oligarchy that rules America, indeed, that rules the American Empire from Australia and Japan, through North America and Western and Eastern Europe to the Russian border.

We know that Hillary, like Bill, is a liar.

We know that Hillary is a warmonger.

We know that Hillary made the most irresponsible statement ever uttered by a presidential candidate when she declared the President of Russia to be the “new Hitler,” thereby raising tensions between the nuclear powers to a higher level than existed during the Cold War.

We know that Hillary is allied with the neoconservatives and that her belief in the neocons’ ideology of US world hegemony is likely to result in war with Russia and China.

[…]

The entire power structure of our country is behind Hillary. Both Democratic and Republican political establishments and both ideologies, neoliberals, and neoconservatives are united behind Hillary.

How much more evidence do Americans need in order to know that a vote for Hillary is a vote for their own emasculation?

Apparently, Americans remain captives of their insouciance. According to news reports, a majority of voters still haven’t a clue about the consequences of voting for Hillary. Polls report that Hillary is well in the lead. Are these real polls or just another presstitute lie to discourage Trump supporters? Why vote when they have already lost?

[…]

All that is required is for enough Americans to awake from their insouciance to recognize that it is the enemies of their own lives, their own living standards, and their own liberty who are violently opposed to Trump.

If Americans cannot reach this realization, they have no future, and neither does the planet Earth.

[…]

The imbecilic Americans who vote for Hillary are voting for war and their own immiseration.

Possibly, a vote for Trump is the same. However, in the case of Trump, we do not know that. In the case of Hillary we most certainly do know it.

Of course, it could matter not how Americans vote. Those who program the electronic voting machines will determine the vote, and as the establishments of both political parties totally oppose Trump, the programmed machines can elect Hillary. We know this from our electoral history. The US has already experienced elections in which exit polls show a winning candidate different from the candidate selected by the electronic machines that have no paper trail and no way of affirming the vote.

If Hillary gets into the Oval Office, nuclear war is likely before her first term is over. A vote for Hillary is a vote for nuclear war.

If you look at the forthcoming election realistically, you have no alternative but to conclude that the entirety of the presstitute media and American Establishment prefers the risk of nuclear war to the risk of losing control of the government to the voters.

Feast of Saint Louis

What a wonderful patron our town and Archdiocese have! Typically on his feast day, I'll see some excerpts from his well-known advice to his son.  Today, let's celebrate a lesser-known quote:

"But a layman, whenever he hears the Christian religion abused, should not attempt to defend its tenets, except with his sword, and that he should thrust into the scoundrel's belly, as far as it will enter."

St. Louis, pray for us!

Cor Ad Cor Loquitor

We sat down outside the sagging wire fence that shut Mr. Shimerda’s plot off from the rest of the world. The tall red grass had never been cut there. It had died down in winter and come up again in the spring until it was as thick and shrubby as some tropical garden-grass. I found myself telling her everything: why I had decided to study law and to go into the law office of one of my mother’s relatives in New York City; about Gaston Cleric’s death from pneumonia last winter, and the difference it had made in my life. She wanted to know about my friends and my way of living, and my dearest hopes.

“Of course it means you are going away from us for good,” she said with a sigh. “But that don’t mean I’ll lose you. Look at my papa here; he’s been dead all these years, and yet he is more real to me than almost anybody else. He never goes out of my life. I talk to him and consult him all the time. The older I grow, the better I know him and the more I understand him.”

She asked me whether I had learned to like big cities. "I'd always be miserable in a city. I’d die of lonesomeness. I like to be where I know every stack and tree, and where all the ground is friendly. I want to live and die here. Father Kelly says everybody’s put into this world for something, and I know what I’ve got to do. I’m going to see that my little girl has a better chance than ever I had. I’m going to take care of that girl, Jim.”

I told her I knew she would. “Do you know, Ántonia, since I’ve been away, I think of you more often than of any one else in this part of the world. I’d have liked to have you for a sweetheart, or a wife, or my mother or my sister—anything that a woman can be to a man. The idea of you is a part of my mind; you influence my likes and dislikes, all my tastes, hundreds of times when I don’t realize it. You really are a part of me.”

She turned her bright, believing eyes to me, and the tears came up in them slowly. “How can it be like that, when you know so many people, and when I’ve disappointed you so? Ain’t it wonderful, Jim, how much people can mean to each other? I’m so glad we had each other when we were little. I can’t wait till my little girl’s old enough to tell her about all the things we used to do. You’ll always remember me when you think about old times, won’t you? And I guess everybody thinks about old times, even the happiest people.”

As we walked homeward across the fields, the sun dropped and lay like a great golden globe in the low west. While it hung there, the moon rose in the east, as big as a cartwheel, pale silver and streaked with rose color, thin as a bubble or a ghost-moon. For five, perhaps ten minutes, the two luminaries confronted each other across the level land, resting on opposite edges of the world. In that singular light every little tree and shock of wheat, every sunflower stalk and clump of snow-on-the-mountain, drew itself up high and pointed; the very clods and furrows in the fields seemed to stand up sharply. I felt the old pull of the earth, the solemn magic that comes out of those fields at nightfall. I wished I could be a little boy again, and that my way could end there.

We reached the edge of the field, where our ways parted. I took her hands and held them against my breast, feeling once more how strong and warm and good they were, those brown hands, and remembering how many kind things they had done for me. I held them now a long while, over my heart. About us it was growing darker and darker, and I had to look hard to see her face, which I meant always to carry with me; the closest, realest face, under all the shadows of women’s faces, at the very bottom of my memory.

“I’ll come back,” I said earnestly, through the soft, intrusive darkness.

“Perhaps you will”—I felt rather than saw her smile. “But even if you don’t, you’re here, like my father. So I won’t be lonesome.”

As I went back alone over that familiar road, I could almost believe that a boy and girl ran along beside me, as our shadows used to do, laughing and whispering to each other in the grass.

John McLaughlin, Requiescat in Pace

The McLaughlin Group, believe it or not, was an instrumental part of my passage into political adulthood.  For all its faults and easy tropes, it was an entertaining, informative, and supportive program for a young Catholic Monarchist such as myself.  McLaughlin, you may or may not know, was an ordained and laicized Jesuit priest. No doubt hosting a political talk show on public television was more noble than being a Jesuit of the last fifty years. May God rest his soul.

For your viewing pleasure, above is a classic SNL skit with the great Patty-Patty-Buch-Buch. Bye-bye!

Two More Items of Interest Involving Cardinal Burke

He is not idle. His style has never been aggressive or flamboyant-- and most of all he does nothing for the mere sensation of attracting attention to himself. Do I wish he would lead a group of Swiss Guardsmen into the Vatican and kick some butt? Sure. But Cardinal Burke is doing what he does, and leading by example. Two more items I've been meaning to blog about, both from Lifesite News:

1. Lifesite has issued a Credo for Catholic Families, a short statement of faith describing what used to be taken as obviously Catholic articles of belief on family issues.  You may sign to support this credo here.  Cardinal Burke has signed it, one of only three bishops who so far have done so. I have it on good authority that the blogger who writes Saint Louis Catholic has also signed. Now it's big time. Here is the credo in its entirety:

Credo of Christ’s faithful families:

1. We believe that marriage was created by God and raised by Christ to the dignity of a Sacrament for the baptized. Marriage is, of its nature, a bond between one man and one woman, freely entered, faithful, indissoluble, and open to life.

2. We believe that sexual intercourse is of its nature procreative and unitive, and exclusively reserved for marriage.

3. We believe that the unchaste misuse of sexual intercourse is radically harmful to body, soul and civilization.

4. We believe that due to our fallen nature we must safeguard chastity with custody of the eyes and modesty of dress and behaviour.

5. We believe that children have the right to be conceived in the loving union of a husband and wife.

6. We believe that parents, by virtue of their gift of life and love to their children, have the absolute primary right and non-renounceable duty to educate and protect them.

7. We believe that human life must be protected from the moment of conception until natural death.

Because the happiness, freedom, salvation and very existence of our families and those of our children depend upon these God-given truths, we expect the Catholic hierarchy and Catholic institutions to teach them unanimously. We pledge to uphold these truths and stand against their being undermined by silence, ambiguity or falsehoods.

2. Thinking of walking from Fatima to Santiago de Compostela? OK, maybe that's just me. But you may have heard something about Our Lady of Fatima at some point in your life, yes? You may have heard that she promised a ton of misery if man continued to provoke God, and we sure have seen a ton of misery in the last century, yes? You know 2017 is the 100th anniversary of the apparitions, yes? That the tension in the world and the Church seems almost unbearable, yes? That her Immaculate Heart will triumph, yes?

Well, Cardinal Burke is putting himself right in the middle of the action, just one month before the anniversary of the first apparition. His Eminence will be in Fatima for the International Fatima Summit from April 4-8, 2017. Information here.

And after you hit Fatima, why not walk to Santiago?

15 August 2016

"It is the fundamental obligation of every faithful Catholic to stand up for the honor and glory of God and the honor of the Mother of God."

Two important calls for prayer from the great Raymond Cardinal Burke:

First, as you may be aware, a group of satanists are to put on a black mass today, with the specific intention-- in addition to the usual, horrible blasphemies ordinarily occurring therein-- of desecrating an image of Our Blessed Mother and committing blasphemies against her.  Cardinal Burke is calling on all Catholics to pray the Rosary today in reparation.  From Gloria TV:

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

I am outraged and most profoundly saddened by the news that a public sacrilegious Black Mass is scheduled to take place in Oklahoma City on the 15th of August, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I have also been informed that, after the horrible sacrilege of the Black Mass, a further blasphemy will be perpetrated directly against the Blessed Virgin Mary. All of this is being done with the official sanction of the legitimate authorities.

For this reason, let us turn to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, through the recitation of the Holy Rosary, to storm Heaven with our prayers to make reparation for these sins and blasphemies that further provoke God's just wrath upon our beloved Nation.

It is the fundamental obligation of every faithful Catholic to stand up for the honor and glory of God and the honor of the Mother of God. In this critical hour, may we not fail to fulfill our obligation of love and devotion toward Our Lord and His heavenly mother.

I ask and beseech each of you to unite with me on this day as I offer Holy Mass and pray a Holy Rosary in reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Let us also pray for the poor souls that are perpetrating these blasphemies.

I urge you to invite your family members, your friends and other fellow Catholics to join in this act of reparation.

Yours devotedly in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke

____________

Secondly, today begins a 54-day Rosary novena endorsed by Cardinal Burke to pray for our guilty country in her crisis of the moment-- political, cultural, but of course at its root spiritual-- brought about all too predictably by our sinful actions and rejection of God.  From the post at the Holy League site:

“There is no doubt that our beloved nation is in one of the worst crises which it has ever experienced, a profound moral crisis which generates division on all levels and results in an ever-greater more pervasive violence and killing. For Roman Catholics, who have always been known for their faith-filled patriotism, the first response to this crisis is fervent prayer and, in particular, prayer through the intercession of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Mary Immaculate who is also the patroness of our nation.

One of the most powerful prayers which is ours in the Church is, in fact, the Holy Rosary. I think, for instance, of the Battle of Lepanto and the victory which was won on October 7, 1571, over the Saracens who were bent on conquering Christian Europe. Let us now turn to the powerful prayer of the Holy Rosary, asking Mary Immaculate to intercede with Our Lord to bring healing to our nation and to inspire in her citizens the holiness of life which alone can transform our nation.

I wholeheartedly endorse the Novena for Our Nation (Starting August 15) and the Rosary Rally on October 7th next, the 445th anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto. I urge as many as are able to participate in these great spiritual works for the sake of our entire nation. In a special way, as the spiritual advisor to the Holy League, I urge all members of the Holy League to give strong leadership in this great campaign of prayer for our nation.”

Meatless Friday: Olympic Jingo Bells Edition

You have likely heard about Hope Solo's poor sportsmanship after the women's soccer team lost, but I thought this article from the Washington Post worth reading. It highlights another uncomfortable sportsmanship moment between U.S. Swimmer Lilly King and Russia's Yulia Efimova.

Rigged, of Course. Can It Be Unrigged?

Pat Buchanan writes a lot of very true things in this article. Excerpt:

This longest of election cycles has rightly been called the Year of the Outsider. It was a year that saw a mighty surge of economic populism and patriotism, a year when a 74-year-old Socialist senator set primaries ablaze with mammoth crowds that dwarfed those of Hillary Clinton.

It was the year that a non-politician, Donald Trump, swept Republican primaries in an historic turnout, with his nearest rival an ostracized maverick in his own Republican caucus, Senator Ted Cruz.

More than a dozen Republican rivals, described as the strongest GOP field since 1980, were sent packing. This was the year Americans rose up to pull down the establishment in a peaceful storming of the American Bastille.

But if it ends with a Clintonite restoration and a ratification of the same old Beltway policies, would that not suggest there is something fraudulent about American democracy, something rotten in the state?

If 2016 taught us anything, it is that if the establishment’s hegemony is imperiled, it will come together in ferocious solidarity — for the preservation of their perks, privileges and power.

All the elements of that establishment — corporate, cultural, political, media — are today issuing an ultimatum to Middle America:

Trump is unacceptable.

Instructions are going out to Republican leaders that either they dump Trump, or they will cease to be seen as morally fit partners in power.

It testifies to the character of Republican elites that some are seeking ways to carry out these instructions, though this would mean invalidating and aborting the democratic process that produced Trump.

But what is a repudiated establishment doing issuing orders to anyone?

Why is it not Middle America issuing the demands, rather than the other way around?

Specifically, the Republican electorate should tell its discredited and rejected ruling class: If we cannot get rid of you at the ballot box, then tell us how, peacefully and democratically, we can be rid of you?

Fatima Center's Pilgrim Virgin Statue To Be Present at Public Mass of Reparation Against Black "Mass" in Oklahoma City

Our Lady deserves our prayers of reparation for the offense of the upcoming satanic blasphemies in Oklahoma City.  As they did for the last black mass, the SSPX, to their credit, will be celebrating a public Mass of reparation. The Fatima statue will be present.  The press release from the Fatima Center:

Fatima Center's Pilgrim Virgin Statue To Be
Present at Public Mass of Reparation
Against Black "Mass" in Oklahoma City

August 10, 2016

The Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be present at a public Mass of Reparation against a blasphemous black “mass” in Oklahoma City.

We will join the Mass of Reparation organized by the Society of St. Pius X on August 15, 2016 at 12:00 noon.

The satanic ceremony scheduled to take place is particularly egregious as it is directly aimed at Our Blessed Mother.

The SSPX press release reads:

“As has been widely reported in public media, a group of Satanists will be permitted to perform a black mass and a blasphemous ritual they call the consumption of Mary in the public building of the Civic Center. These acts, the details of which are so shocking and repulsive that they would even scandalize non-Christians in their unnatural depravity, are transformed from a private outrage to a public act by their occurrence on public ground. A public act requires a public reparation. Therefore, priests of the Society of St. Pius X will offer a traditional Latin Solemn High Mass in Bicentennial Park, in front of the Civic Center, 201 North Walker Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73102, at noon on August 15.”

Our Pilgrim Virgin Statue will be present as well.

This is the second time a satanic black “mass” has occurred in Oklahoma City.

Father Patrick McBride, who services the St. Michael Chapel, notes “In 2014, we offered in a nearby downtown hotel a public Mass of Reparation in atonement for the first publicly performed black mass. This time we wanted to bring the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to the very ground on which these blasphemies will occur. We will raise up to heaven Our Lord’s Most Precious Blood in reparation for the insults that He and His Blessed Mother will receive from these people who regrettably respond to His loving embrace with insults and outrage. We particularly implore the protection of the Blessed Mother as we make reparation to Her Divine Son.”

Those interested in joining this important act of reparation may contact Brian M. McCall or Jeromy Jones at St. Michael’s Chapel by email at stmichaelfriend@gmail.com.

"A man with a great journey still all before him"

...Thirty-five years old, slight and trim, plainly foreign but not so plainly English, young now, in heart and step, he came to bid good-bye to a life-long friend who lay, as was proper for a man dead eight hundred years, in the parish church.

St. Dulcina, titular patroness of the town, was reputedly a victim of Diocletian. Her effigy in wax lay languorously in a glass case under the high altar. Her bones, brought from the Greek islands by a medieval raiding party, lay in their rich casket in the sacristy safe. Once a year they were carried shoulder high through the streets amid showers of fireworks, but except on her feast day she was not much regarded in the town to which she had given her name. Her place as benefactor had been usurped by another figure whose tomb was always littered with screws of paper bearing petitions, whose fingers and toes were tied in bows of coloured wool as aides-memoire. He was older than the church, older than anything in it except the bones of St. Dulcina and a pre-Christian thunderbolt which lay concealed in the back of the altar (whose existence the Arciprete always denied). His name, just legible still, was Roger of Waybroke, Knight, an Englishman; his arms five falcons. His sword and one gauntlet still lay beside him. Guy's uncle, Peregrine, a student of such things, had learned some of his story. Waybroke, now Waybrook, was quite near London. Roger's manor had long ago been lost and over-built. He left it for the Second Crusade, sailed from Genoa and was shipwrecked on this coast. There he enlisted under the local Count, who promised to take him to the Holy Land but led him first against a neighbour, on the walls of whose castle he fell at the moment of victory. The Count gave him honourable burial and there he had lain through the centuries, while the church crumbled and was rebuilt above him, for from Jerusalem, far from Waybroke, a man with a great journey still all before him and a great vow unfulfilled; but the people of Santa Dulcina delle Rocce, to whom the supernatural order in all its ramifications was ever present and ever more lively than the humdrum world about them, adopted Sir Roger and despite all clerical remonstrance canonized him, brought him their troubles and touched his sword for luck, so that its edge was always bright. All his life, but especially in recent years, Guy had felt an especial kinship with 'il Santo Inglese'. Now, on his last day, he made straight for the tomb and ran his finger, as the fishermen did, along the knight's sword. 'Sir Roger, pray for me,' he said, 'and for our endangered kingdom.'

Sustenance for the Age of Hooper

"The claims she makes are superhuman, as are her demands, and they cannot be reconciled with lasting happiness in a world made by men like Mottram for the comfort of men like Hooper." -- John Zmirak, on Lady Marchmain as an allegory of the Church, in Brideshead Revisited

I stumbled upon this old post from 2009 that ran in full, with some emphases of my own, a Zmirak review of Brideshead Revisited by the great Evelyn Waugh. I'm glad I posted it, because the original link to the review is now dead. I should think that every Catholic ought to read this book once a year until the world ends. It is so poignant, so true. It is a chronicle of the decline and fall of the West, the fall of the visible structures of tradition within and without the Church, and of the fall of each of us. And yet it stands for the restoration and salvation of all of the above, due to the steadfastness and sovereignty of Christ.

Read the review linked above. And then read the book.

We Are Not Damned. We Still Have Time. Think of That!

God bless Michael Matt, for all the good work he does, but particularly today for a beautiful piece he posted at The Remnant urging all Catholics of good will to hope and be of good cheer.  We know how this ends.

Excerpt:

Like you, I’m sick to death of reading and writing about the latest scandals out of Rome, where our poor benighted pontiff seems hell-bent on undermining everything we hold sacred. If history provides us with a better example of the shepherd siding with the wolves I’d like to know what it is. But this doesn't change what we must do.  The task God sets before us now is the same as the one He set before Agnes, Barbara, little Lucy, Thomas More and all the rest — keep the old Faith despite the executioner's axe and the myriad scandals of the day, and never join the company of those who’ve abandoned all hope, the very definition of the damned.

We are not damned. Think of that! For us there is still time—this time, our time!—and therefore every reason to hope and to go on and to fight and to love and laugh and to live in the company of those who know Christ. Regardless of the antics of Pope Francis amidst the diabolical disorientation that so obviously afflicts our Church, our job is to do what Catholics have always done—to know, love and serve God. And despair plays no part in that.

“Wait upon the Lord,” St. Bernard of Clairvaux tells us, “be faithful to His commandments; He will elevate your hope, and put you in possession of His Kingdom. Wait upon Him patiently; wait upon Him by avoiding all sin. He will come, doubt it not; and in the approaching day of His visitation, which will be that of your death and His judgment, He will Himself crown your holy Hope. Place all your hope in the Heart of Jesus; it is a safe asylum; for he who trusts in God is sheltered and protected by His mercy.”

Barbarian Blogpost

If you haven't read it yet, I heartily recommend The Barbarian Bible, authored by a Catholic writer under the nom de plume Ianto Watt. It is a book that purports to give the correct historical lens to interpret history and current events, by trying to track it through four main groups (each of which has an imposter group that attempts to ape it) whose functions never change-- though their identities sometimes do.

The book succeeds, in my opinion, very well indeed.  Fascinating stuff. It is not designed to be an intellectual treatise; it is a fun and irreverent look at history stripped of the ideological filters the schools and media have used for years. A very informative book, and its author's opinions on history and predictions of what may come are very interesting indeed.

Well, a reader sent me a link to a guest post of Watt's at another blog on the Turkish "coup"/Mohammedan situation of the moment. It's worth a read.

Ferrara, Fatima and Bogle, Parts 2 & 3

Following up on part one, here are links to the second and third parts of the Christopher Ferrara Fatima article I think you ought to read.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

Matthew 26: 47-53

[47] As he yet spoke, behold Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the ancients of the people. [48] And he that betrayed him, gave them a sign, saying: Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he, hold him fast. [49] And forthwith coming to Jesus, he said: Hail, Rabbi. And he kissed him. [50] And Jesus said to him: Friend, whereto art thou come? Then they came up, and laid hands on Jesus, and held him.

[51] And behold one of them that were with Jesus, stretching forth his hand, drew out his sword: and striking the servant of the high priest, cut off his ear. [52] Then Jesus saith to him: Put up again thy sword into its place: for all that take the sword shall perish with the sword. [53] Thinkest thou that I cannot ask my Father, and he will give me presently more than twelve legions of angels? [54] How then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that so it must be done?

Thanks Two Million!

Today saw the 2,000,000th unique visitor to this blog. The number of page views is somewhere north of 2.6 million. My math is a little fuzzy, but that means that the seven of you who read it must average 230,000 visits a day each. Or something.

But seriously, I am grateful for all of you who have visited here to be edified, mortified, horrified, entertained, solidified, or just plain mystified throughout the last nine years. And I thank all of those who have encouraged me, sustained me, advised me or even criticized me over that time. I appreciate it all.

Today is the feast of St. Alphonsus Liguori, one of my special patrons and the great promoter of devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help. I don't consider this a coincidence, but rather a signal grace. I have consecrated my business, my family, and this little blog all to her. Mary has never failed me, nor will she.

Thank you all for reading. May God bless you abundantly. You are all in my prayers, and I ask for yours.

Oremus pro invicem.

Refuting the "Fatima's All Played Out" Position

Christopher Ferrara does his usual, able job in taking on Joanna Bogle over the most important event for mankind in the last hundred years-- an event that has yet to reach its conclusion.  This article is the first installment of a three-part series.  I will post links to the other two as they come up over at Fatima Perspectives.

This Seems Fine

If you watch the Olympics (i.e., if you don't get cable or satellite TV or are a woman), you might be interested in these Olympics.  In addition to the usual, nauseating NBC backstories of the athletes (little Tabitha overcame the loss of her pet cat, Mittens, in order to train for Rio!), you now might get to see actual, physical nausea play out among the participants.

Yes, those are actually waves of garbage in the bay where the triathalon and other marathon swimming events will be held.  And below (WARNING: grisly images), you see a floating corpse in one shot, and a severed arm floating in some type of waste water near the rowing and other boating competitions.  From the linked story above:

Just days ahead of the Olympic Games the waterways of Rio de Janeiro are as filthy as ever, contaminated with raw human sewage teeming with dangerous viruses and bacteria, according to a 16-month-long study.

Rubbish is so thick in some areas that water is not visible and rats are able to live on top of the disgusting floating debris.

Not only are some 1,400 athletes at risk of getting violently ill in water competitions, but the tests indicate that tourists also face potentially serious health risks on the golden beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana.

The survey of the aquatic Olympic and Paralympic venues has revealed consistent and dangerously high levels of viruses from the pollution, a major black eye on Rio's Olympic project that has set off alarm bells among sailors, rowers and open-water swimmers.

The first results of the study published over a year ago showed viral levels at up to 1.7 million times what would be considered worrisome in the United States or Europe.

At those concentrations, swimmers and athletes who ingest just three teaspoons of water are almost certain to be infected with viruses that can cause stomach and respiratory illnesses and more rarely heart and brain inflammation - although whether they actually fall ill depends on a series of factors including the strength of the individual's immune system.

Who knew that a corrupt cabal's decision to put on a bloated, one-worlder, athletics-related "siblinghood" event in a third world country could go wrong?

To Reiterate

If you are in the habit of asking, "Can it get any worse?", know that it can (note Phyllis Zagano's presence on this phony commission, as if any of that mattered anyway).  And likely will.

If you are in the habit of asking, "How long will this go on?", know that it will only end when the Lord or His Mother take direct action. Not a second before. No one on this earth, certainly not any Cardinal, Bishop, Priest, Blogger or, shall we say, Pope Emeritus, is going to fix this.

As Hilary White would say, we are well and truly effed.

Except that God is sovereign, and we know how this ends.  It ends well, however few of us will be left to see it.

I Must Be Doing Something Right

Because now I've been blocked from commenting at the National (neo-) Catholic Register.

I guess Mark and Simcha are afraid of everything and everyone, apparently. Or perhaps the Register is filled with delicate geniuses.

Regardless, it is well past time for that ship to go down.

Pope Calls on Youth to Embrace a "New Humanity"

From the decrees of the Council of Trent:

DECREE CONCERNING ORIGINAL SIN

That our Catholic faith, without which it is impossible to please God, may, errors being purged away, continue in its own perfect and spotless integrity, and that the Christian people may not be carried about with every wind of doctrine; whereas that old serpent, the perpetual enemy of mankind, amongst the very many evils with which the Church of God is in these our times troubled, has also stirred up not only new, but even old, dissensions touching original sin, and the remedy thereof; the sacred and holy, ecumenical and general Synod of Trent,--lawfully assembled in the Holy Ghost, the three same legates of the Apostolic See presiding therein,--wishing now to come to the reclaiming of the erring, and the confirming of the wavering,--following the testimonies of the sacred Scriptures, of the holy Fathers, of the most approved councils, and the judgment and consent of the Church itself, ordains, confesses, and declares these things touching the said original sin:

1. If any one does not confess that the first man, Adam, when he had transgressed the commandment of God in Paradise, immediately lost the holiness and justice wherein he had been constituted; and that he incurred, through the offence of that prevarication, the wrath and indignation of God, and consequently death, with which God had previously threatened him, and, together with death, captivity under his power who thenceforth had the empire of death, that is to say, the devil, and that the entire Adam, through that offence of prevarication, was changed, in body and soul, for the worse; let him be anathema.

2. If any one asserts, that the prevarication of Adam injured himself alone, and not his posterity; and that the holiness and justice, received of God, which he lost, he lost for himself alone, and not for us also; or that he, being defiled by the sin of disobedience, has only transfused death, and pains of the body, into the whole human race, but not sin also, which is the death of the soul; let him be anathema:--whereas he contradicts the apostle who says; By one man sin entered into the world, and by sin death, and so death passed upon all men, in whom all have sinned.

3. If any one asserts, that this sin of Adam,--which in its origin is one, and being transfused into all by propagation, not by imitation, is in each one as his own, --is taken away either by the powers of human nature, or by any other remedy than the merit of the one mediator, our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath reconciled us to God in his own blood, made unto us justice, santification, and redemption; or if he denies that the said merit of Jesus Christ is applied, both to adults and to infants, by the sacrament of baptism rightly administered in the form of the church; let him be anathema: For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved. Whence that voice; Behold the lamb of God behold him who taketh away the sins of the world; and that other; As many as have been baptized, have put on Christ.

4. If any one denies, that infants, newly born from their mothers' wombs, even though they be sprung from baptized parents, are to be baptized; or says that they are baptized indeed for the remission of sins, but that they derive nothing of original sin from Adam, which has need of being expiated by the laver of regeneration for the obtaining life everlasting,--whence it follows as a consequence, that in them the form of baptism, for the remission of sins, is understood to be not true, but false, --let him be anathema. For that which the apostle has said, By one man sin entered into the world, and by sin death, and so death passed upon all men in whom all have sinned, is not to be understood otherwise than as the Catholic Church spread everywhere hath always understood it. For, by reason of this rule of faith, from a tradition of the apostles, even infants, who could not as yet commit any sin of themselves, are for this cause truly baptized for the remission of sins, that in them that may be cleansed away by regeneration, which they have contracted by generation. For, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

5. If any one denies, that, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is conferred in baptism, the guilt of original sin is remitted; or even asserts that the whole of that which has the true and proper nature of sin is not taken away; but says that it is only rased, or not imputed; let him be anathema. For, in those who are born again, there is nothing that God hates; because, There is no condemnation to those who are truly buried together with Christ by baptism into death; who walk not according to the flesh, but, putting off the old man, and putting on the new who is created according to God, are made innocent, immaculate, pure, harmless, and beloved of God, heirs indeed of God, but joint heirs with Christ; so that there is nothing whatever to retard their entrance into heaven. But this holy synod confesses and is sensible, that in the baptized there remains concupiscence, or an incentive (to sin); which, whereas it is left for our exercise, cannot injure those who consent not, but resist manfully by the grace of Jesus Christ; yea, he who shall have striven lawfully shall be crowned. This concupiscence, which the apostle sometimes calls sin, the holy Synod declares that the Catholic Church has never understood it to be called sin, as being truly and properly sin in those born again, but because it is of sin, and inclines to sin.

This same holy Synod doth nevertheless declare, that it is not its intention to include in this decree, where original sin is treated of, the blessed and immaculate Virgin Mary, the mother of God; but that the constitutions of Pope Sixtus IV., of happy memory, are to be observed, under the pains contained in the said constitutions, which it renews.
