Daily and Sunday TLM at St. Agnes Cathedral-- Springfield, MO

Good bishops make a difference. The following good news comes from the Latin Mass Community of Southern Missouri:

Springfield Missouri will now be the home of Traditional Catholicism in the Ozarks. His Excellency, Bishop James Vann Johnston, has transferred Father Joseph Orthel from Stockton to St. Agnes Cathedral in Springfield effective July 1st, 2008. Once there, Father Orthel will celebrate the Traditional Latin mass during the week and on ALL Sundays.

Details to follow....

Fr. Joseph Orthel will celebrate the extraordinary form of the Latin rite at St. Agnes Cathedral in Springfield beginning Tuesday July 1. The new schedule at St. Agnes will be each Sunday, Mass at 7:00 P.M. with confessions from 6:00 - 6:45, weekday Mass starting at 12:15 P.M on Tue-Fri with confessions from 11:30 - 12:00. There will not be a Latin Mass in Stockton after Sunday June 15 as Fr. Orthel will be on vacation moving to Springfield to accept his new assignment at the Cathedral. The extraordinary form of the Latin Mass scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month at Holy Trinity Church will be transferred to the Cathedral with Monsignor Raymond Orf as the celebrant.

Monsignor Orf celebrates the Latin Mass on the second SUNDAY of the month now; that's what will be transferred to St Agnes. In other words, Fr Joe will not say the Latin Mass on the second Sunday of the month.

This is my understanding of the situation.

The information I have I pulled directly from the site mentioned. If you can confirm differently, please feel free to post back.

I attend the current Latin Mass at Holy Trinity, celebrated by Msgr Orf, on the second Sunday of the month. The announcement about the new schedule was made this past sunday after Mass--Msgr said Fr Orthel would say all the Masses (none on Mondays or Saturdays) except that Msgr wanted to continue the second Sunday. Also, I am a member of St Agnes Cathedral Parish where Fr Orthel will be saying the Latin Mass....it was announced in our bulletin last Sunday.

I looked at the site you got this from and see that they have the error there....:)

Perhaps those in the know can help me out. I will be looking to attend mass in the extraordinary form this Sunday June 15th. Will there be one at 7 pm at St. Agnes? This is obviously after the second "Sunday" at Holy Trinity, but before the effective start of this schedule on July 1.

If not...looks like Berryville, AR.

I think the first Latin Mass at St Agnes will be on July 1.
