Some Updates Following the Priestly Assignments This Week

In last Friday's St. Louis Review, the long list of priestly assignments that usually take place this time each year was made public.   A few were of particular interest to traditionally-minded Catholics.

Fr. Gregory Lockwood, who celebrates the Traditional Latin Mass each Sunday at 3pm at Assumption Parish in South County, has been assigned to St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in the City.

I have corresponded with Fr. Lockwood, who was able to confirm the good news that he will continue to celebrate the TLM each Sunday at 3pm at Assumption, while fulfilling his duties at St. Gabriel.  No word yet on any addition of Mass in the Extraordinary Form at St. Gabriel, but it is certainly a worthy prayer intention.

Also, Fr. Keller, the Archdiocesan Master of Ceremonies and friend to the Traditional Mass, has been assigned to parish work in North County, per his wish.  He states he has every confidence in the new MC, Fr. Schroeder, and we wish both priests well in their new work.

Finally, the newly confirmed all received their assignments, and we hope to hear good things from them in their ministries.  Not to beat a dead horse, but some more TLMs would be great!

Mary, Queen of Apostles, pray for us.

I hate these games of musical chairs. Our parish lost two solid priests a few years back, replaced by two who are a little "liturgically creative." And now one of these was sent over to a very orthodox parish nearby that we like to frequent as a respite from litugical shenanigans. I do wish our archbishop would pay attention to things like this. St. Cronan's isn't the only mess in town.

fr. brad modde, by all accounts a solid young(er) priest ordained in '97, offers an explanation to parishioners in Sunday's Immaculate Heart of Mary bulletin for his "leave of absence" from St. Mary's HS. He says he needs to deal with "personal issues" but remains a priest in good standing and will continue to serve at IHM. Pray for this man and all priests in their struggles.
