Feast of St. Alphonsus Liguori

21Thou therefore, my son, be strong in Christ Jesus:tu ergo fili mi confortare in gratia quae est in Christo Iesu
22And the things which thou hast heard of me by many witnesses, the same commend to faithful men who shall be fit to teach others also.et quae audisti a me per multos testes haec commenda fidelibus hominibus qui idonei erunt et alios docere
23Labour as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.labora sicut bonus miles Christi Iesu
24No man, being a soldier to God, entangleth himself with secular businesses: that he may please him to whom he hath engaged himself.nemo militans inplicat se negotiis saecularibus ut ei placeat cui se probavit
25For he also that striveth for the mastery is not crowned, except he strive lawfully.nam et qui certat in agone non coronatur nisi legitime certaverit
26The husbandman that laboureth must first partake of the fruits.laborantem agricolam oportet primum de fructibus accipere
27Understand what I say: for the Lord will give thee in all things understanding.intellege quae dico dabit enim tibi Dominus in omnibus intellectum

2 Timothy 2:1-7 (epistle from today's Mass)

Today is the feast day of the great Saint Alphonsus, who so advanced devotion to Mary under her title of the Mother of Perpetual Help.  Say a prayer today for the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer, a group of traditional monks in the Redemptorist tradition whose blog is linked at right.

Remember, too, the requiem Mass for Archbishop Sambi at St. Francis de Sales Oratory at 6:30pm this evening.  Perpetual Help devotions at 6pm.

Finally, today the faithful may gain the annual Portiuncula indulgence.
