Don't worry, busting the lyrics of Imagine as atheistic, anti-religious, anti-nationalistic and puke-inducing is not exactly newsworthy.  But watching (yes, I did watch some of it) the Olympics closing ceremony in London was like watching the New World Order poke one if its trademark sneek preview thumbs in my eye.

The typically bizarrely dressed performers marched past huge screens of John Lennon singing his anthem to the faux-intellectualism and shallowy-deep philosophizing of modern man.  This song, with its undoubtedly catchy tune, helped close out the police-state production quite appropriately.  The lyrics in question:

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace

You, you may say

I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world

It's coming soon enough; we won't have to imagine it.  I don't think we'll like the "peace" that comes with no God, no countries, and no possessions, but we shall see.

Timman, how do you manage to get out of bed in the morning and face the day? You are such an optimist!

Imagine a boot stamping on a human face-forever.

Timman, you so nailed it (except for the part about "Imagine" having a catchy tune).

My family and I turned it on for a minute last night and caught the Eric Idle song and dance number where the Nuns dressed in the Traditional Habits that the Daughters of Charity used to wear skating around and then suddenly one of them pulled up her long black skirt and showed her "panties" which was the British Flag. We immeditately turned it off. Interesting that they didn't have the nun-like-LCWR's skating around in their "clothes"....oh, wait a minute, no one would have known they were Catholic!

I agree that "Imagine" is a catchy tune just like other ungodly songs as "Hotel California";"Stairway to Heaven" and another Lennon tune of which I don't recall the title, but it has the lyrics that go,(using the name of Our Lord), "you know it ain't easy..". The talent of these is all part of the deception. I still recall the day when John Lennon was shot and saying to myself, "OMG, Dec. 8th, feast of the Immaculate Conception."
